Valentine's day consists of many genre conventions, for example, affection between a couple or two individuals who are romantic together including chocolates or a date. When I think about Valentine's Day I think about the colors red, white and pink. I think about love, flowers, chocolates, and people desperately wanting to have their own Valentine. I also think about everyone that is single on this day and how a lot of people do not like valentine's day because they are single and it feels like a slap in the face to them. The movie Valentine's Day(2010) directed by Garry Marshall which tells a story of different couples and friends lives on Valentine's day. Examples of conventions throughout the movie are when the teenage couple exchange gifts and the girl gets a hug teddy bear, and then they argue because the boy doesn't like his present hat much. Another convention is a business woman who is upset all day because no one has asked her out and she buys herself chocolates and throws a party with all her single friends so sulk at the fact that they are all single. The entire movie is surrounded by love, whether it is between a mother and son, friends, or a couple. It also has all ages of love, it has a little boy who is in love and grandparents who are in love. This film goes through every convention from the chocolates, and flowers to arguing and breaking up. The creators made sure every type of valentine's day was incorporated into this film.
